Hazel 6 is taught by Mr Meakin and supported by Mrs Teale as our ETA; Miss Laher will also be teaching our class as the year progresses.
Information regarding our class timetable/routine is as follows:
PE is taught on Tuesday (outdoor) and Thursday (indoor). For this, children need to have correct school kit including indoor and outdoor footwear. No watches or jewellery will be allowed during PE times. The indoor PE kit consists of black shorts, white T-shirt and black pumps. For outdoor PE, children could bring tracksuit bottoms/top.
Homework is given out on Thursday afternoon and is expected to be returned on Monday the following week. This homework consists of a Maths and an English activity, as well as continuous home reading, for which children must bring in their reading logs every Monday to be checked. Spellings practice may also be given out.
All children must read at least three times a week at home.
Children are encouraged to play on TT Rockstars as frequently as possible - class and whole school leaderboards are updated on a half-termly basis.
NEWS FLASH: CHICKS IN INCUBATION!
We are currently looking after 6 chick eggs, and 1 duck egg! We are hoping to have some little chicks (and duck!) hopping about at some point on the week beginning 1st July.
Our Weekly learning:
In Hazel 6, we are currently getting ready for our end of year performance with lots of rehearsal time in the afternoons. This will continue to be the case in the coming weeks.
Additionally, we will be spending time:
ENGLISH: Editing and re-writing our unaided writing piece to make improvements.
MATHS: Looking at the properties of 2D and 3D shapes, as well as calculating missing angles in shapes, angles and on coordinate grids.
SCIENCE: We are investigating the effects of microorganism growth on food, by setting up our own experiments with pieces of bread.
TOPIC: We are analysing immigration graphs and looking at trends from history in order to compare with today's immigration.
RE: Continuing to look closely at the Parable of the Mustard Seed.
