Welcome to the Oak 5!
The adults who work in this class are: Mr Coates and Mrs Firth.
In Oak 5 we are committed to understanding our capabilities and believing in ourselves to improve every single day. We look out for each other and always try to show understanding and empathy. We are calm, focussed and engaged learners who will never stop giving our all to everything that we do.
PE- Every Thursday we will have PE. For this, children need to have correct school kit including indoor footwear. No watches or jewellery will be allowed during PE times. The indoor PE kit consists of black shorts, white T-shirt and black pumps. Friday is our outdoor P.E day and the outdoor PE kit consists of blue/black tracksuit bottoms a jumper and pumps. We recommend that the PE kit comes in on Monday and the children take it home on a Friday, this way if there are any unforeseen changes of timetable, your child will have their kit with them already.
Homework is handed out on a Friday and must be returned by the following Wednesday. Each week the children will receive a piece of English and Maths homework. Weekly spellings will be handed out on a Friday. Please encourage your child to learn the different spelling patterns by practising them regularly, ready for the spelling test on the following Friday. (Each spelling pattern will be taught over the course of two weeks). This home work will also run alongside continuous home reading. Children are required to read 3 times per week, reading logs must be signed by an adult. Reading logs will be checked every Monday to ensure every child has read.
Our class will not be going swimming until February due to a change in timetable this year.
Here at Bywell we operate an open door policy on a Wednesday after school. Please feel free to drop in. If you need to discuss anything with me on another day then please feel free to arrange an appointment via the office or call and ask for Mr Coates.
Weekly Learning 11/11/19
English - This week in English we will be continuing our poetry work.
Maths - We are working on division this week in our maths lessons.
Homework - The homework for this half-term is based on Shadow Forest. We are asking children to produce anything that they would like (no larger than a shoebox) concerning the story. It could be a scene, a model of a creature, a replica of The Creatures of Shadow Forest.
Please continue to read at least three times a week. Spellings are sent home each week so please ensure that you are practicing. TT Rockstars will help with many aspects of maths and will be checked every Friday. Keep on using it!
